A Stone built home in the UK
This rubble stone built thatched cottage in the southwest of England in Blaise Hamlet near Bristol. The cement used to build this was Lime mortar that bound the stone work together nicely and was often black in color so also giving a nice contrast to the different color stones used, as the black lines of the mortar would break the colors up.
The cottages at Blaise Hamlet were built around 1811 for retired employees of Quaker banker. There's a total of 9 cottages at Blaise Hamlet set in the castle grounds, There's a variety of styles made by the best stone builders of the day.
